“COMMON ANNOUNCEMENT”

The Reaching out Project organisation and the Child’s Dream Association are delighted to announce their collaboration to help and support the students and teachers of Wat Sdei Primary School, established in 1985 on the shore of Tonle Sap Lake in Prey Sromouch Village, Kampong Khleang Commune, Soutr Nikom District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.

The school currently serves 353 students aged 5 to 12 and employs 14 teachers. The school has a main building with four classrooms and another small unsuitable wooden building of one room which was constructed by the community. As such, there is not enough space to accommodate all students.

Families are extremely poor, and people rely on subsistence fishing and agricultural work for their livelihood. Due to poverty and a lack of transportation, students invariably end up dropping out of school.

The students and teachers urgently need basic things items like bicycles, stationery, a more spacious learning environment, and assistance to improve teaching quality so that the children can enjoy learning and the school can become a child-friendly school.

Given the above, along with our shared objectives of helping students and teachers, we cooperate with teachers and the community, striving to support all 353 students at the school. This includes supplying all the necessary stationery for the entire academic year, providing bicycles, and improving the quality of education through improved learning environments and school programs. Each organisation contributes to these efforts.

The Reaching out Project has been a steadfast supporter of the school since 2022. Starting from 2023, it has taken on the responsibility of covering all school-related expenses for all 353 students of Wat Sdei Primary School for the entire academic year, including providing bicycles. In addition, implements a series of initiatives and programs in conjunction with teachers and the community. These efforts aim to improve educational and living conditions, eradicate hunger and mental health disorders, and transform children’s lives through education and covering children’s school expenses. The Reaching out Project focuses on quality education and children’s mental health improvement. This is achieved through programs that promote socialisation, teamwork, sports, cultural activities and children’s skills.

The Child’s Dream Association has committed to constructing a new school building, which includes four fully furnished classrooms and six new toilets. They will also install a complete electricity system for the school, thereby enhancing the learning environment for both students and teachers.

The Reaching out Project is delighted to see that another foundation joins to help and support schools. This partnership will amplify the benefits for children and schools. We are truly honoured to work with the Child’s Dream Association, which has for decades been dedicated to empowering marginalised children and youth, working in partnership with communities to improve educational and health conditions for their children.

Together, we have a shared vision of improving education and teaching quality for vulnerable children, schools, and communities.
